In South Australia there is a whole-of-government strategic approach to procurement however each agency is responsible for its own procurement practices.
Government agency procurement
The Chief Executive of an agency is responsible for all procurements by their agency regardless of value.
Each agency has its own fit for purpose procurement processes and procedures that are aligned to the South Australian Government Procurement Framework.
Whole-of-government strategic oversight

The Treasurer sets the government-wide strategic approach to procurement.
Procurement SA is the chief advisor on all government procurement activity and oversees the Framework.
There are also expert groups that help inform the strategic direction of procurement. These are:
provides strategic oversight to procurements that are large, complex or of public interest. The PRC also review the investigations of unresolved supplier complaints.
is a large group of agency procurement leaders that regularly meet to discuss emerging issues and changes relating to government procurement.
are established by Procurement SA to assist agencies improve their procurement capability and practice.
The IAG’s role is to improve government’s engagement with industry, drive innovation and identify ongoing opportunities to reduce the complexity and costs of tendering for government work.
The IAG comprises representatives from various industry sector bodies (e.g. not-for-profit, Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) and Construction) and the Industry Advocate.
